Driftwood Beach on Daufuskie Island
Island Explorer has discovered a beautiful new spot for beach combing - Driftwood Beach. If you like our Vanishing Island excursion, you'll love this one.
We'll set out from the Old Oyster Factory docks on Hilton Head Island and explore the Lowcountry, culminating in beach combing at Driftwood Beach on Daufuskie Island.
Along the way we'll see dolphins up close and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Salt Marshes of Broad Creek. Cruising through the center of Hilton Head Island we'll see egrets, herons, osprey, and other birds, as well as beautiful waterside real estate.
Our journey takes us across Calibogue Sound to nearby Daufuskie Island. Accessible only by boat, Daufuskie has a unique, rustic charm and a stunning natural beauty without the crowds of Hilton Head.
The highlight of this tour is a chance to get off the boat and explore the nearly deserted Driftwood Beach on Daufuskie Island. This wide, white sand beach is perfect to visit on the rising tide. You'll find a variety of shells and small driftwood. Beautiful nature photography oppotunities abound. Peace and serenity are assured as no other tour company offers this destination.
Depending on the tides, wind, and weather, we may take the backwater route and see the back side of Daufuskie Island. Dolphins are often found in these secluded waters, and birds are everywhere.
The Daufuskie Island Driftwood Beach Adventure is truly off the beaten path. Our skilled captains have discovered a safe, but challenging route to reach this unique destination. Because of the lcoation and topography of this journey each tour is custom-designed by the captain for your optimal safety and enjoyment.
Every trip will be different. Sometimes, depending on conditions, we will circumnavigate Daufuskie Island; other times we'll travel the Calibogue Sound. If time permits, we may stop off at Freeport Marina on Daufuskie for a cold drink and a look around. Let you captain know your interests - we always try to accomodate our guests.
